Huntington Beach - The Flying Tortillas

This was done with oil on canvas. The main colors used on this were cadmium orange, venetian red, alizarin crimson, raw umber, burnt sienna, ultra marine green, cobalt blue, and soft mixing white. There were many yellows, browns, etc, but these were the main ones.
The FLYING TORTILLAS" are a group of a dedicated, hard working group of young men, performing at the Huntington Beach Pier every weekend. They promote a healthy fitness lifestyle to kids and adults alike, to live drug free, and are a great example for everyone.

This guy not only leaps over trashcans, but he leaps over people, doing multiple flips in mid air.

NO....this guy doesn't really have 3 legs....just portraying how fast and precise his break dance abilities are....

They always draw large crowds.

These guys really play to the crowd, use audience participation, and create a very positive energy.

The crowd cheers them on, making the whole experience one to remember.

After you are done watching them, you can stroll down to the end of the pier with your special someone and eat some chili-fries at Ruby's. :)

There are always surfers, no matter what time of the day.

The Flag Shop and the Lifeguard Tower.

If you haven't had the privilege to watch this exceptional group entertain the beach-goers, it is worth a trip down to the pier. You won't be disappointed!

Frustrating Violin

What was I thinking when I painted this? I'm not sure. I'm not mad at the violin in any way, shape or form. In fact, my first intention was to paint a violin, or series of violins, or something of that matter.
This is just what came out. A broken violin. If a person playing the violin is frustrated in practicing, I'm sure his head is telling him to shatter the violin, but his heart tells him no.
Bottom line, we all have artistic ability of some sort. Whether it be the gift of art or music.
This is just my combination of both, I guess.
This is painted in oil on canvas. The colors used were Cadmium pale yellow, Burnt Sienna,
and Grumbacher Red, Thalo Green, Lamp black, Alizaron Crimson, and Soft Mixing White. All Grumbacher.

Carousel

I've always liked carousels. Ever since I was a little kid. I got the idea for a carousel on a website called "kinetic carnival forgotten amusement parks".
I had to capture the carousel one last time.
This was done on canvas pad with oils. Colors used were Cadmium yellow pale, burnt umber, raw umber, burnt sienna, lamp black, cobalt blue, permanent brilliant green, soft mixing white and copper light.

Sam's Place - Brea CA

This is my artistic interpretation of Sam's Place in Brea, CA.

We visited Sam's Place in Brea and it was amazing! The service was warm and friendly, the food was ridiculously delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were affordable. It is very clean and has great character (something many restaurants these days are lacking). They have big screens if you want to just relax and watch a baseball or football game. It's a great place and a fun atmosphere. I would recommend this place to everyone! :)

In this portion of the oil painting, I tried to incorporate bits of the outside, of Sams, and bits of Birch Street.

Here is the fountain at the heart of the Birch Street Promenade, corner of Birch and Walnut.

Sam's also offers comfortable outdoor seating. Great for people watching on the "usually crowded" Birch Street Promenade.  You are instantly greeted with a warm welcome at the outside booth. They will seat you wherever you prefer.

If you don't want to sit at the bar, there is a TV on the wall that can be seen from the dining room.

There is a huge glass window that shows the awesome chef's creating unique and wonderful dishes for you to enjoy!

The restaurant side is clean and very comfortable. The food is amazing!

This is the outside of Sam's Place. There is rich history behind this sign.  Sam's Place was first established as a bakery in 1907. In 1933, it was bought and turned into a bar, and for 65 years, it was one of Brea's most famous watering holes. Sam's Place was demolished in the 1990's to make way for the new Birch Street Promenade. Today, it is brought back as a family friendly American eatery and bar. There is something for everyone, both young and old.

You can relax at the bar and watch football. It's clean and comfortable and they have plenty of comfort food to satisfy any game-cravings!
